Objectives:

The Graduate Program in Applied Statistics and Biometry aims at training human resources for the exercise of university teaching, research and development activities, with the deepening of knowledge in Master’s level (MS).

The overall objective of the program is to enable the student to propose statistical methodologies for those situations where no trivial statistical method is suitable and / or improve the existing ones. To achieve this goal the Program offers courses and infrastructure that allow training in the use of software and studies of the theoretical and practical relevant aspects of the Statistics science.

Student thesis may address aspects such as the establishment of assumptions for the use of data analysis methodologies, development of algorithms that enable a more efficient use and implementation of these algorithms in software so these methodologies can be applied routinely. Comparing competing methodologies that aims the application in areas of specific interest.
